At Aerospace Tech Week, Nicolas Landgraf, Customer Development and Sales Manager at Lufthansa Technik AG’s AVIATAR joined for a brief interview, sharing his insights into the MRO landscape.

Landgraf picked out digitalisation as a core driver of the changes emerging in the MRO landscape and pointed out that while the industry is evolving significantly, certain parts are still progressing on different timelines.

Illustrating one of the ways the industry’s digitalisation can translate into noticeable benefits for the industry, Landgraf added:

“The tangible changes [from predictive maintenance] will be seen in the technical operations which will avoid delays or any cancellations, or actually AOG (aircraft on ground) too. And that’s what we’re really trying to avoid.”

Thinking about how the MRO sector will look 5-10 years into the future, Landgraf predicted that while we will be better equipped to make use of the growing volumes of data gathered by next gen aircraft, the landscape itself will not appear vastly different.

Questions asked include:

  • How is the MRO landscape evolving and what new technologies are driving this change?
  • What is holding the industry back from leveraging the full potential of data when it comes to predictive maintenance?
  • How do you see the future of MRO differing from where we are at now, say in 5-10 years?
